work work work.
work is in full swing at job #1 after nearly a month of us employees doing prep work (mostly janitorial stuff). job #2 i haven't gotten many shifts but i have some LONG hours coming up soon. i've hammered out my schedule to the best of my knowledge so i can plan to have spare time whenever i find it. today i took like an hour filling out my calender full of school, work, and personal events. took a lot of work but was worth it. hmm... what should i tell yall... oh, so both of my jobs are part-time jobs, #1 is like a specialized restaurant style and #2 is ushering for events. i don't have a preference, they both have perks and downsides. (and the same pay, $11 hourly which lowkey sucks in this economy rn). basically i get scheduled for #1 and get the routine for there, then i tell job #2 when i can work and pick up shifts in the spare time. idk. probably not interesting.
i got a $9000 scholarship! (it's slightly lower than that, but rounding up makes it sound even better). with this scholarship and the other ones i have, i don't have to pay for next two semesters of college!!!!!! i'm so happy!!!! also, last semester i somehow got a 4.0? unexpected, and i wasn't trying to get a 4.0 but that's how it turned out. happy surprises!!
i need to get a new laptop... my current one is from 2015~ and it's getting slower and slower every month. i'm thinking about getting one of the HP victus laptops. (i need it for school, not just home usage. if it was for home i'd consider other things too dw). one of the ones i'm looking at is around $800. hopefully i can make that money fast cause i really want it.
oh yeah! i started reviewing Advanced Reader Copies (arcs) again! i started it during the 2020 pandemic but i totally forgot about it until like a month ago. i'm already bored and reading books so might as well pay it forward to authors/publishers yk? i'm having fun i think. i read a cool nonfic book about the history of barbie i really liked. plus just today i got approved for like 3 arcs that look really good so that's also exciting. oh btw i use netgalley to get copies. they mostly just send ebooks/pdfs/epubs via their app or through kindle. its fun using netgalley except for the % thing. you have to have a 80% to get approved more often, but i had dipped down to low 60s due to forgetting about netgalley. so i've been trying to recover that plus recovering an audience through posting at least 5 reviews a week. i suppose its a lot of work but i'll adjust it when neccessary.
not sure what else to say. lowkey depressed rn. started a painting recently but very tired and it'll probably take a while for me to finish it
(man idk if i'm ever going to fix the javascript for this... idk how to. i'll get to it, but not today)
